Operations Manager - Lubbock, TX

IPS is seeking an Operations Manager in Lubbock, TX with experience in running commercial and industrial electrical projects. We put a high priority on having safe, clean, and healthy workspaces, and we want individuals that will take this seriously. Qualified candidates must have 5+ years of electrical project manager experience. Please do not apply if you do not qualify. The successful candidate will be required to manage the day-to-day operations of the Lubbock, TX facility. Manage the labor, materials, and products for electrical construction projects. Provide technical expertise in installing and troubleshooting electrical wiring and equipment. Work cooperatively with the general contractor and/or customer in managing the project, project schedule and employees. Monitor installations and ensure work is performed according to company standards and project specifications. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws. Proactive communication and teamwork are essential to be successful in this position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and build strong teams for each project while delivering quality output, meeting customer expectations, managing to scope, delivering on time and within budget.

  • Work closely with Human Resources to organize recruitment and placement of required staff. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor, address, and evaluate performance of employees.

  • Observe employees and implement necessary improvements. Ensure quality of all company services. Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery. Coach and provide technical support to employees where necessary.

  • Work with appropriate personnel to establish project goals at the beginning of the project and monitor success in reaching those objectives on an ongoing basis.

  • Monitor codes, specifications, and installation methods.

  • Prepare, review, distribute and/or maintain all required installation documentation.

  • Utilize a proactive approach to anticipate and resolve potential issues.

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals including project owners, architects, general contractors, management, crew members, etc.

  • Drive division profitability through effective project execution.

  • Evaluate and continually improve the systems and processes used by the division to effectively meet customer requirements and profitability goals.

  • Work with the appropriate personnel to track and monitor material costs, storage, usage in order to identify potential problems while minimizing cost and overruns to company.

  • Review the overall contractual requirements for all projects and specific process design methodology for individual projects as required.

  • Ensure schedule requirements are met for all projects.

  • Readily adjust priorities and milestones based upon changing customer needs, resource availability and job requirements.

  • Interact with the customer to ensure expectations are understood and met before, during and after project completion.

  • Provide oversight for third party construction firms as necessary.

  • Proactively and systematically communicate challenges, risks, and successes.

  • Oversee invoices per project terms and negotiate appropriate change orders.

  • Adhere to all company, state and federal safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all work performed meets with NEC, federal, state, county, local codes, and contract documents.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop all employees.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities and assigned.

  • Perform duties in the most efficient and cost-effective manner as possible.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Large projects experience preferred.

  • Ability to take projects from start to finish including precon, estimating and project management.

  • Must hold current Journeyman license.

  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical service management experience to include estimating commercial/industrial electric and construction projects or in a similar role in electrical construction.

  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting electrical plans and specifications.

  • Demonstrated track record of successful project leadership with experience managing foreman.

  • Capable of managing any type of private or public sector electrical construction project including new construction, improvements, etc.

  • Ability to show a solid understanding of the electrical codes and installation methods.
